COVID-19 Update 11th June 2020

As part of ongoing precautions to limit the spread of Covid-19, we are continuing to limit the provision of non-urgent services such as nail clipping, weight clinics, puppy clinics etc.

Opening hours & Emergencies

We are continuing to provide for sick patients and urgent cases.

We request that you telephone the surgery if your pet is unwell for guidance and to arrange for an appointment if necessary.

Currently the surgery is open from 9am-5pm Mon–Sat and from 9.30am–12 pm Sunday.

We would request that calls at the weekend are limited to urgent cases.

Out of hours emergency provision from 5pm Mon–Sat and 12pm Sunday is carried out by the Royal Veterinary College at Brookmans Park. The telephone number will be on the emergencies answerphone message on callng the Surgery on 020 8440 5742.

Visiting the Surgery

All visits to the Surgery are by appointment only, so please call the Surgery 020 8440 5742 prior to visiting.

Currently clients are not permitted to enter the building. For appointments, Pets will be taken into the surgery and examined while owners wait outside. We would ask that you maintain your distance from our staff whilst communicating with them prior to admitting your pet. Please also keep the recommended 2 metres distance from other clients. We also request that the minimum number of family members attend the surgery for each visit and that clients attend promptly for their appointment to minimise time waiting at the surgery.

Vaccinations

We are providing initial vaccination courses for all puppies and kittens.

We are attempting to integrate annual vaccinations into the appointment system where possible, but since our opening hours are limited and appointment times increased to minimize the number of people attending the surgery, we may not be able to fulfil all the due vaccinations.

We hope to be able  to catch up on due vaccinations over the next few months.

**We are assured by the vaccine manufacturers that the previous booster will provide at least 3 months of additional protection beyond the recommended 12 months interval.

Surgical Procedures & Neutering

With respect to surgical procedures, we are continuing to operate on urgent cases.

Where we can accommodate less urgent cases such as neutering we will try to do so, however, we will not be able to carry out minor procedures that are not time sensitive as judged by the clinical staff. Less urgent cases that are booked may be subject to cancellation at short notice.

Prescription Medication

We continue to provide prescription medication for patients on long term treatment.

Payment

We will continue to take payment via telephone. Payment can also be made by bank transfer, please contact the surgery for the account details. Please use the owners name AND pet name as a reference.

Thank you for your continued support during these difficult times and please be assured that you will be able to access urgent care if required.

East Barnet Vets COVID-19 Risk Assessment

COVID-19 Statement 19th March 2020

As the world changes the team soldier on providing the care and support our clients and patients need. There may be a few alterations put in place over the coming weeks. Our aim is to protect our staff so that we can continue looking after the animals in our care throughout a very difficult time.

These changes include:-

Asking clients who are unwell, self or group isolating to not come to the practice. If your pet is in need of urgent medical care please call reception and we will make arrangements to see your pet.

Asking clients to wash their hands on arrival at the practice.

Your pet may be held by a nurse or examined in the prep area of the practice so that we are all able to maintain some social distance.

This world seems alien to us all but please be assured that we are here for you and your pet at a turbulent and stressful time.

COVID-19 Update 22nd March 2020

We have been advised by the British Veterinary Association that we should cease providing non urgent services with immediate effect as part of the National Policy to limit the spread of COVID-19. This should include cancellation of all routine vaccination boosters and routine checkups (for example Healthcare Plan Checkups ) and any other non-urgent procedures eg. nail clipping, weight clinics, laser treatment

**Please note - that for annual booster that are due imminently, we are assured that the previous booster will provide at least 3 months of additional protection to those patients, allowing booster vaccinations to be delayed.

The surgery will still be open for urgent or emergency cases, that require medical attention.

We request that you telephone the surgery if your pet is unwell for guidance and to arrange for an appointment if necessary.

We will need to take precautions regarding ‘Social Distancing’ which may include taking the pet into the surgery for examination while the owner remains in the car in some cases.

We will continue to provide prescription medication for patients on long term treatment.

We also request that the minimum number of family members attend the surgery for each visit and that clients attend promptly for their appointment to minimize time waiting at the surgery.

Where possible we will be taking payment by telephone.

Thank you for your continued support during these difficult times and please be assured that you will be able to access urgent care if required.
