The role of the Veterinary Nurse in Veterinary Practice has increasingly developed over the past few years. At East Barnet Veterinary Practice our team of qualified & Trainee Veterinary Nurses play a major role in the care of your pet.
Charlie, one of our Head Veterinary Nurses now offers a number of complimentary clinics to advise pet owners on preventative healthcare. Charlie is not only a qualified and experienced (20 years qualified) Veterinary Nurse, but is also a trained Pet Health Counsellor and able to advise you on all aspects of your pet’s health care.
Clinics to be held on Thursday afternoons between 2.00-5.30pm and also the last Saturday of the month (other times may be available by prior arrangement).
Free clinic. Dental help and Advice from the really young to the really old. All pets of any age can develop dental problems and this clinic is designed to give advice on preventative dental healthcare, oral hygiene and dental problem symptoms.
Come for a free dental assessment, post treatment follow ups to keep teeth and gums healthy and advice about home care treatments such as dental chews and brushing.
Free clinic. According to recent findings by the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention (APOP), more than 45 percent of dogs and 58 percent of cats can be classified as overweight or obese. A gain of even a pound or two of additional fat on some dogs and cats can place significant stress on the body.
Some of the conditions that can occur as a result of excess weight are:
Exercise intolerance, decreased stamina
Respiratory compromise (breathing difficulty)
Hypertension (high blood pressure)
Diabetes or insulin resistance
Liver disease or dysfunction
Increased surgical/anaesthetic risk
Lowered immune system function
Increased risk of developing malignant tumours (cancer)
